The N. Broad Street Murder Company Apply

Now casting three roles.

A short live performance in Elizabeth, New Jersey. One character, one small room, an audience close enough to touch. Most of it is stillness. The rest is yours.

Pick a window to choose your role, or read on first.

Look reference only. Not a cast member.

Lenore Voss

The Examiner · Female, 55–65, any ethnicity

A Union County wife who looks fifty and works for it: six a.m. spin, blowout, gold jewelry, a wedding ring you can see from the back row. The warmest person in the room and the most dangerous. She never raises her voice.

  • Stillness, held far longer than feels comfortable
  • Eye contact with a stranger, without filling the silence
  • Improvisation in character with a live audience, at close range
  • Comfortable working in very low light
  • Visible upper-body strength suits the character
  • Strong New Jersey speech preferred; English/Spanish a significant plus

Look reference only. Not a cast member.

Manny Gallo

The Counterman · Male, 50–65, any ethnicity

A heavy-set, sweaty, genuinely likable griddle man who has run the same slider counter for thirty-five years. The audience should laugh at him in the first minute and be afraid of him by the fourth.

  • Warm, funny without trying, never playing for the laugh
  • Stillness, then improvisation in character with a live audience
  • Heavy-set build is essential to the character
  • Strong New Jersey speech preferred; Spanish a plus
  • Some on-camera work, with separate written consent and pay

Look reference only. Not a cast member.

Simon Adair

The Window Dresser · Male, 45–55, any ethnicity, 6'0" or taller

A department-store window dresser with total command of any room: shaved head, a low unhurried voice, the confidence of a man who has never doubted his own taste. Simon is gay; it's who he is, never why he does what he does. LGBTQ+ performers are strongly encouraged to apply.

  • The hardest stillness of the three roles
  • Improvisation in character with a live audience, at close range
  • Performed in costume, with prop restraints that never lock
  • Real star presence

The job

A short live performance for a small seated audience, a few times a night. A stretch of stillness, then improvised work in character. Very few lines to learn; the rest is you, reading the room.

Non-union. Thursday and Sunday nights in Elizabeth, NJ, a few short shows per night. Strict no-contact policy in both directions. Adult horror themes; audiences are 21+.

Rate, rehearsal and run dates are shared with performers we invite to audition.

Submit for a role

Send a headshot and résumé. A self-tape link helps, but it isn't required to apply.

Self-tape: read the side once as written, then hold your final look into the camera in silence for fifteen seconds. If you don't have the side yet, submit anyway and we'll send it.
